A teacher and a mother, Catherine is a proud Texan who has been working for her community all of her life.
After college, Catherine found her passion with teaching and was acknowledged by her peers and community with multiple teaching awards. Her commitment to education was further recognized at the start of the Obama Administration when she was asked to join as Assistant Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Education. She used her position to fight for low- and middle-income neighborhoods and their students. Catherine has since returned to her hometown and is a biology teacher.
Catherine has continued in working for her community serving on the Board of Directors at Nuestra Casa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating positive change in the lives of children and adoloscent. She's also a high school soccer coach and marathon runner, but always has time for her family.
Our community deserves to breath clean air and drink clean water. Catherine has the vision and passion to work with business leaders and fight for whats right.
As a teacher, Catherine knows the fear and real danger gun violence poses that our student are facing each day they come to school. She knows that tough conversations and even tougher action must happen if we want to provide kids with a safe space where they can learn, grow, and thrive. Children should never have to choose between an education or their life.
Woman's rights have been under attack and Catherine is here to fight for them. She's seen first-hand through her work with Nuestra Casa how providing stable and nurturing care leads to positive change and stronger families. The rolling back of these rights has led to women's reproductive health and their lives being put in danger. Catherine knows that the best way to have more healthy, happy families is to ensure the reproductive rights of women.
